Policy is always developed with the best of intentions. Unfortunately, sometimes this means it is done based on listening to the vocal minority. This does not mean that the resulting policy is necessary bad. However, not always is the policy the best for the time. This can apply to environmental policy designed by governments or developed by companies. It is not reasonable to expect that every policy will be liked or acceptable to everyone. However, Crow's Nest Environmental believes that any decision made should be well grounded in fact and supportable data, not hearsay and opinion. We will help separate the fact from the fiction such that any policy, be it at the municipal level or within a multi-national corporation, will stand up to scrutiny. Previous work has looked at provincial diversion strategies, user-pay programs, utility-based fees for waste management services, producer responsibility program costing and impact of mandatory recycling.
Crow's Nest Environmental is currently acting as strategic advisor to the Paper and Paperboard Packaging Environmental Council regarding Ontario recycling targets.
Through PAC NEXT, Dan is actively engaged in policy development with the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment in their Zero Plastic Waste Action Plan.
